Mislabeling Anti-Illegal Immigration Groups

While one expects unfair characterizations from the left about people who want secure borders and an end to illegal immigration, I was surprised to see Fox News playing along.
An anti-immigration group is calling on the Obama administration to ensure a smooth exit for illegal immigrants who are trying to leave the U.S. due to the weak economy and Arizona's strict new immigration law.

Americans for Legal Immigration PAC (ALIPAC) is urging U.S. citizens to pressure the White House and the Homeland Security Department to establish "safe departure" border checkpoints along the U.S. border for illegal immigrants so they can leave without fear of being detained or prosecuted for immigration crimes.

"The peaceful and gradual exodus of illegals from Arizona shows there is no need for comprehensive immigration reform amnesty," William Gheen, president of the group, said in a written statement. "Comprehensive immigration enforcement works and has the desired effect without mass deportations."

Emphasis mine. Seriously, the group is "Americans for Legal Immigration" and Fox calls them "anti-immigration." Once again, this is like calling "Mothers Against Drunk Driving" an anti-driving group.

We all agree lawful immigration strengthens America and always has. Lawful immigration advocates simply insist we need to be at least as rigorous in our defense of the rights of lawful residency as our neighbors Canada and Mexico, or every nation in the European Union.

Randomness: The Solar Plane

PAYERNE, Switzerland — An experimental solar-powered plane completed its first 24-hour test flight successfully Thursday, proving that the aircraft can collect enough energy from the sun during the day to stay aloft all night.
Story here.

I knew this project would succeed. How?
Project co-founder Bertrand Piccard, himself a record-breaking balloonist, said many people had been skeptical that renewable energy could ever be used to take a man into the air and keep him there.
There was a Piccard at the helm. Enough said.
