Obama Calls for more Gun Control--in New Orleans

Reading this, I'm left with the question of whether he's blithely audacious or ignorant.
Faced with a clamor in his party for stricter gun control in the wake of the Colorado movie-theater massacre, President Obama said Wednesday night he would “leave no stone unturned” in seeking new measures to reduce violence nationwide, including more restrictive background checks on gun purchases.

I'm not a fan of gun control.  It does harm to lawful citizens, it doesn't help them.  A call for more of it is especially galling in New Orleans.   The significance of advocating more government control of arms in that city isn't lost on the self-defense advocacy community.  When many of New Orleans' finest fled their duty, the officers that stayed confiscated the firearms of lawful citizens who desperately needed them to protect themselves from the rampant criminal activity caused by a reduced police presence and the disaster.

Firearms rights groups fought hard to have the guns returned and make sure this never happened again.  Now a tone deaf President is seeking to make New Orleans residents victims again.

Note, though Lefties will surely mock the Southern accents of the individuals in this video, they're people and their stories of violation by the police are no less real, shocking or relevant for the way they speak.
