A local (to me) armed citizen story:
Redding, California woman on phone with 911 kills intruder
A Redding woman called police early this morning, armed herself with a gun and shot an intruder while talking to dispatchers, Redding police reported.
The suspect died at the scene.
According to police, the woman, Donna Hopper, 66, called police after noting a person in her yard on Branstetter Lane.
The suspect description matched that of a person confronted by a Roger Funk Cars security guard at about 4 a.m. this morning.
Police were responding to that call when Hopper's call came in.
While Hopper was on the phone, the suspect broke a window to Hopper's bedroom and she fired multiple shots, hitting the intruder at least once.
The identity of the suspect has not been released and investigation is ongoing.

Remember: The only proven method to mitigate the disaster of a rogue
criminal shooter is to have more first responders, e.g. CCW permit
holders lawfully armed and on scene. These criminals do not respect "gun
free" zones, but simply view them as target-rich opposition-free areas
in which to slaughter innocents.
Carrying a firearm is an inherently civilized act.
