1 Killed in Venice Boardwalk Hit-And-Run; Person of Interest Detained

One person has died after being struck by a vehicle in a Venice hit-and-run that left 11 other pedestrians injured, authorities said.

Witnesses said the driver of the dark-colored sedan was “moving purposefully” at about 20 mph when the vehicle struck several pedestrians and tables near the boardwalk, according to LAFD spokesman Brian Humphrey.

“It was unreal. It looked like bowling pins,” a man who witnessed the incident told KTLA. “It was outrageous.”

I'm waiting for the breathless media coverage of this incident, national news asking what his motivation was and days of coverage about the man and his victims.  I'm waiting for legislators to call for pedestrian safe cars that won't crush people when they run them over.  Since the driver didn't use a gun, though, I guess that won't happen.  Did you know a car is easier to aim and more sure to do damage than any gun ever invented?

Want to know what crazy people will use for their mass slaughters if you take away guns?  Knives like in China or cars like this guy on the Venice Boardwalk.  The problem is still mental illness, not the tool used to carry out an atrocity.
