Tyranny Sincerely Exercised for the Good of Its Victims

“Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience."

The Global Warming Lie Exposed (again)

The blog Armed and Dangerous had a great post today that's worth a read.  It's titled:  Causes and implications of the pause

Go and have a read.  From A&D:
[Causes and implications of the pause]  That is the title of a paper attempting to explain (away) the 17-year nothing that happened while CAGW models were predicting warming driven by increasing CO2. CO2 increased. Measured GAT did not.

Here’s the money quote: “The most recent climate model simulations used in the AR5 indicate that the warming stagnation since 1998 is no longer consistent with model projections even at the 2% confidence level.”

That is an establishment climatologist’s cautious scientist-speak for “The IPCC’s anthropogenic-global-warming models are fatally broken. Kaput. Busted.”
For most children in school in the US, global warming has been taught as a scientific fact.  And yet, the earth has not warmed during their entire educational career.   Now, in most of science if your models don't match reality 95% of the time, you don't just have to adjust your models a bit, rename your theory from "warming" to "change" and say you're still right.  In most of science, if your predictions are that far off even using bad data skewed in your favor, your theory gets trashed.  Congratulations, it's time for a new field of research because you were wrong.

Yet the anthropogenic theory of global warming (I don't even need the "anthropogenic" qualifier now--the globe is not presently warming) keeps rising like something from a bad zombie movie.  Part of it is the politics.  A lot of politicians have invested a lot of political capital in this movement and have used it as the support and delivery method for global socialism.

That doesn't explain the continued survival of this broken theory however.  For the average believer, this is a religious movement.  Having "moved beyond" traditional religion, these people still need something to hang onto.  They're like the late Harold Camping's followers.  Continually proven wrong, they "discover" an error in the basis for their predictions and move the date of the apocalypse.  Most of society and the media rightfully scorned and mocked Harold Camping's consistently wrong prognostication.  Now it's time for them to do the same to the anthropogenic theory of global warming.

If you "Think Different" Apple doesn't want your money

I'm not a fan of Apple because I think they're making an inferior product and selling it based on the company they used to be.  They used to be innovative.  They used to "Think Different."  Now they just used media hype and user ignorance to sell inferior merchandise.

Recently, the Apple CEO guaranteed I'll never buy their products or invest in their company.  Here's the headline from MSNBC:  Apple CEO tells climate change deniers to sell their Apple shares

What he said was phrased more artfully than that, but that's what it means.  Here's the exchange:
“As shareholders, we object to increased government control over company products and operations, and likewise mandatory environmental standards,” said NCPPR attorney Justin Danhof in a statement [PDF]. “This is something the company should be actively fighting, not preparing surrender.”

The suggestion made Cook “quite angry,” according to a reporter present at the meeting.

“When we work on making our devices accessible by the blind, I don’t consider the bloody ROI [return on investment],” said Cook. According to Mac Observer, Cook added that the same thing applies to the company’s sustainability policy. He concluded, “If you want me to do things only for ROI reasons, you should get out of this stock.”
It is especially egregious for a company that touted the slogan "Think Different" for years to say, "If you don't think our way, you're not welcome."  I've come to expect such closed-mindedness out of the Progressive movement, but I won't tolerate it in a company voluntarily supported by customers.  You shouldn't either.  If you have Apple stock, sell it.  At the time I'm writing this, it's not doing so well anyway.  Go support a company that actually does care about you as their investor even if you don't agree with their political ideology.

If you have purchased Apple products in the past, try an Android phone.  Yes, there's a bit of adjustment.  Having played with both, I much prefer Android.  The bonus is that at least for now Android phone manufacturers are producing much superior phones.  Apple shows no real urgency to catch up, though.  They're counting on you to be too dumb to do your hardware research.
